Issues

As a local Member of Parliament, Janet works on a myriad of issues that would help to improve State services in the Alfred Cove Electorate as well as the general well-being of the local community. These issues can broadly categorised into:


Health

As a Registered Nurse, Janet is concerned about long waiting lists for surgery, lack of hospital beds, shortage of public hospital nurses and community and child health nurses, the need for improved services for people with disabilities, and the need for better facilities for carers.


Education

Janet works closely with the schools in the Alfred Cove Electorate to ensure that the needs of the local school communities are being met and that they are provided with an environment in which both students and teachers can flourish.


Transport

Janet pursues an assurance from the State Government that a consistent and equitable scheme be implemented to improve road safety in the Alfred Cove Electorate, particularly when the volume of road traffic continues to grow and with it the associated problems of noise and pollution.

Environment

Janet continues to work on ensuring there are adequate amount of public open spaces for the local community to enjoy, that the environment does not take a back seat in light of development and that old growth forests are not logged to extinction.


Community-Advocacy

Janet plays an important role as a spokesperson for the community on issues that are of concern to them. As an Independent MP, Janet is proud to be able to work with various individuals and groups in all levels of Government as well as across different political volition.


Community-Safety

Apart from working to ensure that adequate facilities and resources are allocated to Police in the Alfred Cove Electorate, Janet works with the community to resolve issues that pose problems to safety and supports legislation which enhance community safety.
