Independent Member for Alfred Cove Dr Janet Woollard met with members of the Attadale North Underground Power Group and a representative from the City of Melville yesterday to discuss the process to have underground power installed in the area.

Dr Woollard said the group had a positive meeting, where they clarified issues which would be canvassed in an upcoming survey to assess the level of community support for the project.

Attadale North was shortlisted for underground power conversion in February under the State Underground Power Program when Balcatta withdrew from Round 4 of the Program.

“The Attadale North Underground Power Group has worked very hard to have the northern half of the suburb included in the State Underground Power Program,” said Dr Woollard.

“They are keen to assist in making the process as smooth as possible, so residents and businesses can enjoy the benefits of underground power connection.”

Dr Woollard said the Attadale Underground Power Group is planning to canvass residents’ support for the project to go ahead.

“Residents in Attadale North have an opportunity to improve power reliability to their homes, improve the street appearance, increase their property values and enhance safety,” said Dr
Woollard.

Dr Woollard said with the community’s support, work could commence to install underground power in Attadale North in July 2012. The City of Melville will be sending out information
over the next three weeks to explain the process to the community.
