Independent Member for Alfred Cove, Dr Janet Woollard MLA, invites the local community to nominate a sensational senior for the WA Seniors Awards 2009, and apply for a WA Week Small Grant.

WA Seniors Awards 2009

If you know a sensational senior who makes a significant contribution to your local community, consider nominating them for a WA Seniors Award 2009. The categories are Senior of the Year, Champion for Seniors Award, and Active Ageing Leadership Award.

For further information about the Awards, contact the Department for Communities on 6217 8700 or go to www.seniorscard.wa.gov.au. Applications close on 31 July 2009.

WA Week Small Grants Scheme

Local not-for-profit community based groups or organisations may want to consider applying for a WA Week Small Grant. The grants of up to $1,000 are to be used for coordinating a project or event for WA Week, which runs from 19-25 October 2009.

For further information about the Grants, contact Celebrate WA on 9481 8066 or go to www.celebratewa.com.au. Applications close on 23 July 2009.

“There are many outstanding seniors in my electorate who would be worthy recipients of a Seniors Award, and many groups that do a lot for our area’s history, heritage and culture who could do something amazing with a WA Week Grant,” said Dr Woollard.
