Independent Member for Alfred Cove Dr Janet Woollard is calling on the community to donate their second-hand books, CDs, DVDs and music sheets for the Save the Children South of the River Branch (Branch) annual Booksale.
“My Electorate Office has been a collection point for donated items since 2005 and I am happy to be offering this service once again,” said Dr Woollard.
“The annual Booksale raises funds for health and protection programs for disadvantaged children.”
During May 2008 to May 2009, the Branch contributed $33,000 to the following programs in Western Australia:
- Communities for Children Program in East Kimberley which provides practical health and educational activities for children and their families aimed at building strong communities in the region.
- Future Parents Program in Perth which trains young people about child health, safety and practical skills to care for younger children.
"Dropping off your unwanted books, CDs and DVDs at my office wil help children and families in need.
“In addition, donating these items is a great way to bring joy to avid readers and music hobbyists who visit the Booksale for a great find,” said Dr Woollard.
Dr Woollard said the second-hand items can be dropped off at:
1. 22 Darnell Avenue, Mt Pleasant on Monday mornings from 9 am to 12 noon.
2. The Electorate Office at Suite 1, 30 Ardross Street, Applecross between 9 am to 12 pm from Mondays to Thursdays.
The Save the Children South of the River Branch Booksale will take place between 24 and 29 September at the Cannington Exhibition Centre.
