Independent Member for Alfred Cove Dr Janet Woollard is forming a walking group for the next three months and would like to invite the community to join in.

Dr Woollard said the group will embark on its first walk at 6.30 am on Thursday, 24 March and continue to do so every week until 23 June.

“Walking is a great safe way to stay healthy,” said Dr Woollard.

“Adults need to spend at least 30 minutes a day being active to maintain good health, while children need at least 60 minutes of activity each day.

“However, only 1 in 4 adults and less than half of school children are achieving these targets.

“I know how family and work commitments can sometimes pose a challenge for us. I am hoping that a dedicated 3-month „walking group. will encourage people to participate.”

Dr Woollard said the group will meet outside her Electorate Office.

“Rain or shine, we will be walking along the Swan River foreshore or within the suburbs for about one hour,” said Dr Woollard.

“The community can call my office on 9316 1377 to register.”
