Independent Member for Alfred Cove Dr Janet Woollard is inviting community groups within her electorate to apply for a grant through the 2010 Community Grants Program.
"Community groups undertaking projects which relate to the environment, crime prevention, road safety and emergency readiness are eligible to apply for a grant of up to $5000," said Dr Woollard.
"This is a positive initiative to help provide financial support to community groups undertaking worthy endeavours within our community."
"Applications are open from 1 to 31 March 2010 and successful applicants will be notified in June 2010."
"A previous successful applicant is the Ardross Primary School P&C Association, which in 2009 received a grant of $5000 towards the continuation of its Waterwise Garden project," said Dr Woollard.
Community Groups interested in applying for a grant are encouraged to visit www.sgio.com.au/grants to obtain a SGIO Community Grants information booklet and to submit their applicaiton. Alternatively, applicants may visit their local SGIO office or call the SGIO Community Grants team on 1300 306 496.
