Independent Member for Alfred Cove Dr Janet Woollard is encouraging the community to participate in the Friends of Wireless Hill’s annual Wildflower Walk at 9 am on Sunday, 30 August at Wireless Hill Park.

“The Walk showcases Wireless Hill Park’s extensive range of native wildflowers which comes to bloom every spring,” said Dr Woollard.

“The Walk gives the community a chance to enjoy the beauty of this local Class ‘A’ Nature Reserve.”

Dr Woollard said “the range of wildflowers on display include the Red and Green Kangaroo Paw, cat’s paws, Greenhoods and Donkey Orchids and two species of wildflowers which are on the Department of Environment and Conservation’s Declared Rare and Priority Flora List.”

“The Walk is not only about taking in the views of the wildflowers found in the Park, but it is also a chance for members of the community to get to know the history of the Park and enjoy what is left of our coastal bushland.

“This is particularly important when native forests and bushland in Western Australia are being destroyed due to logging and other developments,” said Dr Woollard.

Members of the community interested in the Wildflower Walk should assemble at the main carpark of Wireless Hill Park at 9 am on Sunday, 30 August with a gold coin donation.  The Murdoch Branch of the Wildflower will assist the Friends of Wireless Hill in the Walk.
